2 things we kept in mind as we decided to make the game,first is about
the world view.
as the artistical archetype of silent hill's story,the most important priorities for us was to recreate the world views from American novels.
and the second is to inspire the fears from player's innermost instincts.
indeed 1 thing we are particularly proud of the light effects.the town is covered in fog and players won't be able to see things in the distance,that creates an atmosphere of a nameless uneasiness,that monsters might appear from somewhere and attack you from behind,that 's exactly what we want the players to feel.
as to the game system,it's genarally based on real life experience and details..things happen in the game just like the way it is in real life.unlike other tradtional adventure games that you might need a special item to enter the next level area,silent hill has a relatively free game system players is able to go anywhere on the map just like in real life.
The flashlight is a very special item needed in the game play. In some occasions the players won't be able to do anything without the flashlight,but You might expose yourself and attack by the monsters in the same time.we added these real life based details into the game to make it more realistic for the players.

(as the superviser of CG Making),I always keep a hypercritical attitude on the CG makings . generally speaking,when comes to the character design,what we do is to make the character's appearance and movement as realistic as possible.Take this one for example, the character's teeth must be seen when she smiles.

as much as I know,there are no other tridimensional adventure games like silent hill before,and other things like camera usings,light effects we used in the game.the most difficult work in the game making was to do everything from scratch,for we had no examples to follow.anyway,you will defenitely feel the unprecendted terror in silent hill,please turn off your light,and have a taste in the experience version of this CD.
